Operations Capability and Performance Manager
Operations Capability and Performance Manager
Location: Southampton
About the Role
Offshore operations have historically relied on instinct, tribal knowledge, and reactive problem-solving. One technology-led business in subsea data services is now turning that paradigm on its head. As autonomous and remotely operated vessel programmes scale rapidly, this organisation is building the structural backbone required to align its operations with the demands of its cutting-edge technology.
This **Operations Capability and Performance Manager plays a pivotal role in steering this shift. The core objective: define how the entire Data Services function measures, governs, and continuously improves operational performance at sea.
This position is not about day-to-day delivery—it’s about .designing the future of operational excellence. Ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in highly complex offshore environments, who understand what drives safe, predictable delivery, and now seek to shape the underlying governance frameworks against which teams will operate.
The Impact You Will Have
- Own and design the operational capability architecture for Data Services, ensuring it is scalable, adaptable, and built to meet future demands.
- Establish decision governance, clear accountability structures, and escalation frameworks to reduce friction between cross-functional teams.
- Chair cross-functional performance forums to embed consistency, compliance, and commercial discipline in offshore operations.
- Lead operations analytics, converting data from vessels, remote operation centres, and onshore teams into predictive insights that enhance efficiency and resilience.
- Identify and eliminate systemic performance gaps, transforming lessons learned into updated standards, governance frameworks, and capability requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
