At WBD Sports Europe, we connect fans and broad audiences across 200+ markets and 20 languages, delivering iconic content via:
- Eurosport & TNT Sports (UK/Ireland)
- World-class sports programming (Olympics, Grand Slams, Grand Tours, major winter sports events)
- Live broadcasts (including over 1,000 cycling broadcasts annually)
- Spotlight events: PGA TOUR, The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series, The Ocean Race, FIM Endurance & Speedway Series.
Our capabilities span free-to-air TV, pay-TV, streaming platforms including HBO Max, online, and social media.
The Role: Operations Engineer (GCC)
You’ll anchor Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD’s) Global Command Center (GCC), the central nervous system for incident response, service management, and production support across:
- Broadcast engineering
- Editing & production operations
- News & Sports teams
- Entertainment divisions internationally.
Key Accountabilities
Technology Expertise
- Mastery of digital audio & video studio environments, including:
- Control systems
- Audio/video editing infrastructure
- Media Asset Management (MAM) systems
- IP production environments (SMPTE 2110/2022 standards)
- Contribution & distribution technologies

Production & editorial collaboration
- Deep understanding of production workflows and OTT (linear/digital media environments)
- Ability to troubleshoot workflow impacts from technical failures (e.g., live-production disruptions, delayed content delivery)
- Partnerships with DTC (direct-to-consumer) teams for distributed content.
Emergency Leadership & Major Incident Response
Leads high-stake incident resolution during critical moments:
- First-call triage, dispatch, escalation, and tactical oversight (low-priority to On-Air emergencies).
- Manages fireside triaging, regardless of severity.
- Orchestrates escalation chains, provides clear leadership via internal communication tools.
- Supports restore efforts, prioritization, and initiates workarounds in crises.
Scoping & Adjustment of Major Incidents
- Core knowledge of ITIL Service Management frameworks, focusing on:
- Service Transition (e.g., preparing access for new teams functions).
- Service Operation (problem & incident),
- Change & Incident Management during threats affecting airtime or live outputs.
Remote Resolution & Onsite Participation
Resolves incidents via:
- Remote control tools
- Research through incident knowledge bases
- Onsite troubleshooting for customers (e.g. production teams, bureaus)
Implementation Support
- Assisting in inter-facility upgrades: cable routing, equipment installation/relocation, and testing for broadcast networks, terminals, gear rooms, and datacenters.

Client Coverage
Customers include: WBD production units across global bureaus, engineering teams, talent, journalists and editors, available on a 24/7 basis.
How This Role Works
Presence & Nature of Work
- Fully onsite (permanent baseline, subject to local laws and business restrictions).
- Operations span multiple idols, typically operating on 12-hour shifts.
