Operations Finance Manager

Role Summary

The Operations Finance Manager delivers financial analysis, commercial insight, and operational performance reporting across the business. The role helps improve financial visibility, supports effective decision-making, and contributes to the identification of financial risks and opportunities across operational activities.


Responsibilities

  • Provide regular financial and operational performance insight to the SVP Operations Finance and Tax, including analysis of key drivers impacting rig and regional performance.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency of operational and financial KPI reporting, including governance of metric definitions across the Group.
  • Perform financial evaluation of:
    • Rig contracts
    • Tenders
    • Commercial arrangements
    • Analysis of profitability, cost assumptions, and risk exposure.
  • Review and maintain standardised Bid Approval Sheet processes, improving efficiency for Regional Finance teams and ensuring robust governance throughout the tendering process.
  • Conduct post-project financial reviews, comparing Bid Approval Sheet assumptions to actual performance, identifying key variances and lessons learned.
  • Provide financial input to Operations and Commercial teams to support:
    • Contract performance
    • Cost control
    • Margin improvement
  • Assist in reviewing operational structures and client arrangements to:
    • Identify financial risks
    • Ensure they are understood
    • Appropriately managed
  • Support the Senior Finance Director with forward-looking analysis of operational performance, including:
    • Identification of cost overruns
    • Margin erosion
    • Emerging financial risks
  • Develop:
    • Scenario analysis
    • Sensitivity modelling
    • Forecasting to support operational planning and decision-making
  • Work with Treasury and Tax teams to support:
    • Cash repatriation initiatives
    • Broader cash management activities
  • Support Regional Finance Managers with:
    • Cash collection initiatives
    • Establishment of prepayment and funding structures
  • Monitor commitments versus AFE budgets, identifying and escalating variances where required.
  • Support strengthening financial discipline across operations, including:
    • Review of cost approvals
    • Commercial deviations
  • Ensure financial risks in operational decision-making are:
    • Identified
    • Escalated
    • Appropriately managed
  • Provide analytical and decision support to the SVP Operations Finance and Tax on:
    • Contract structuring
    • New market entry
    • Operational strategy
  • Support cross-functional initiatives related to entry into new operating jurisdictions.
  • Assists with ad-hoc projects, strategic reviews, and implementation of best practices across operational finance processes globally.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Experience in finance, preferably within:
    • Energy industry
    • Offshore sector
    • Project-based environment
  • Strong capabilities in:
    • Excel
    • Financial modelling
  • Experience with ERP and BI tools preferred.
