Operations Financial Controller

Operations Financial Controller – UK

Position: Commercially driven Financial Controller Industry: Multi-site FMCG manufacturing business Reports to: Finance Director

We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead the UK finance function, acting as a strategic partner to senior leadership. This high-impact, visible role places finance at the heart of driving performance, decision-making, and growth.

You will take ownership of the UK finance function, leading a team while collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders. This role goes beyond traditional reporting, demanding insightful contribution, proactive challenge, and clear direction to enhance business performance across operations and commercial functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own, develop, and ensure financial reporting delivers accuracy, clarity, and actionable insight
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles across multiple UK manufacturing sites
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to drive efficiency and margin improvement
  • Deliver analytical insights on customer, product, and brand performance
  • Build scenario models to support strategic planning and investment decisions
  • Evaluate and track ROI on capital expenditure and improvement initiatives
  • Strengthen financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks
  • Lead, develop, and motivate a high-performing finance team

About You

  • Qualified accountant with a recognised professional accreditation (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Post-qualification experience in FMCG or manufacturing, preferably within a multi-site environment
  • Proven track record of leading teams and collaborating with senior stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and strong capability with ERP/operational systems
