Operations & Maintenance Support Manager - (Industrial Wastewater Treatment Projects)
Role Purpose
The Operations Support Manager is responsible for ensuring seamless execution of contracted O&M services for industrial effluent, wastewater treatment plants, and AD at client sites. The role focuses on SLA adherence, regulatory compliance, client satisfaction, cost control, and performance optimization across one or multiple O&M contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Client Management
- Act as the primary operations interface between Aqua Operations and the client site team.
- Ensure full compliance with contractual SLAs, KPIs, and scope of work.
- Attend daily/weekly coordination meetings with client representatives.
- Manage client escalations, non-conformities, and performance reviews.
Site Operations Oversight
- Oversee daily operations of ETP/AD plants operated under contract.
- Monitor plant availability, treated water quality, recovery, and discharge parameters as per consent conditions.
- Ensure proper deployment of resources as per contract and shift rosters.
- Support site in handling abnormal effluent loads, shock loads, and process upsets.

Compliance & Safety
- Ensure continuous compliance to Environment Agency (EA) norms and consent conditions.
- Coordinate internal and external audits at client sites.
- Enforce safety standards, PPE usage, PTW systems, and toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, HSE policies, and statutory requirements.
Cost & Commercial Control
- Assist plant manager with monitoring and reporting of O&M costs including chemicals, power, spares, and subcontract services.
- Control site budgets and support monthly billing, measurement sheets, and invoice verification.
Maintenance & Asset Protection
- Assist in development of maintenance hierarchy.
- Ensure critical equipment availability (RO, MBR, blowers, pumps, AD, Gas consumers).
- Plan protection of client assets through proper operation and maintenance practices.
Reporting & Documentation
- Develop & ensure delivery of daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports to clients.
- Maintain statutory logs, operations registers, calibration records, and chemical consumption data.
- Maintain documentation for renewals of consents, audits, and inspections.
People & Vendor Management
- Supervise and coach site teams.
- Manage subcontractors, chemical suppliers, and service providers at site.
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend training and disciplinary actions.

Process Improvement & Optimization
- Identify opportunities for energy savings, chemical reduction, water recovery improvement, and sludge minimization.
- Lead debottlenecking, retrofitting, and improvement projects within contract scope.
- Support commissioning and stabilization of new units added under change orders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Relevant engineering qualification or background.
- Experience: 5-10 years’ experience in industrial effluent/wastewater O&M
- Preferred Exposure: Effluent Treatment, Pharma, Factory setting, refining, Advanced digestion.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of O&M contracts
- Deep technical understanding of Effluent Treatment Plants & Advanced Digestion.
- Strong client-facing, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Budgeting, cost control, and P&L support capability.
- Sound understanding of SHEQ and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficient in MS Excel, SCADA, ERP, and reporting dashboards.
