Operations Manager

Operations Manager - Greater Manchester Area (FJA Recruitment)

FJA are recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager on behalf of our client in the Greater Manchester area.

The Role:

Our client is seeking a self-motivated, dynamic Operations Manager with a passion for streamlining operations to deliver efficiency gains, process improvements, and staff development. The ideal candidate will provide expert guidance in implementation and adoption of new systems, particularly as they have recently introduced a new ERP system (Coins) and require support in its transition for a smooth operational transition.

This fully office-based position (Monday–Friday) offers a market-leading salary up to £40,000, depending on experience.


Key Responsibilities

The Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in:

  • Driving commercial efficiencies and ensuring data integrity
    • Manage complex financial administration, including plant hire, hire rates, and asset utilisation
    • Maintain resource tracking and cost management

  • Leading Plant Division operations

    • Oversee day-to-day office functions and team management across the Plant Division
    • Identify and implement process improvements, strengthening systems and commercial controls
  • ERP adoption and optimisation

    • Support migration and optimisation across divisions of the newly-implemented Coins ERP system
  • People Leadership

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the Plant Division office team
    • Oversee plant administration, coordination, and reporting
  • Continuous improvement

    • Drive operational efficiencies and foster team engagement
    • Champion process innovations, ensuring alignment with business goals

Requirements

Essential:

  • Background in construction, engineering, or plant industry (required)
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills – able to influence, engage, and motivate
  • Excellent organisational and computer literacy (covering ERP and administrative tools)
  • Resilience, initiative, and hands-on problem-solving mindset (‘get stuck in’ attitude)
  • Proven commercial acumen and financial process management skills

Desirable (advantageous):

  • Experience with the Coins ERP system
  • Demonstrated history of driving efficiency improvements in high-volume team environments
