Operations Manager

Manager, Operations

How You Will Make a Difference

The primary role of the Manager, Operations is to plan, direct, and oversee the operations in their assigned category. Responsible for meeting the operational goals of the department in terms of:

  • Quality delivery
  • Cost efficiency

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coaching and developing personnel to ensure both technical progression and career advancement
  • Fostering a spirit of empowered work teams and unity among department members
  • Implementing continuous improvement measures
  • Providing in-depth product knowledge, processes, and procedures to collaborate effectively with:
    • The Sales Team
    • Customers (including issue resolution and completing workplace functions)
  • Overseeing supervisors of Shipping/Receiving and Inventory Control to:
    • Support issue resolution
    • Provide direction
    • Ensure efficient product delivery to internal and external customers
  • Direct customer engagement to address department-specific issues
  • Leading a lean operating environment

What Is Involved

Core Responsibilities:

Production & Logistics

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the production unit, including:
    • Collection and delivery of contaminated products to the site
    • Delivery of quality-sterilised products to customers

Capital Equipment Management

  • Monitor and control use of capital equipment against performance and efficiency measures

Health & Safety Leadership

  • Assume responsibility for all Health and Safety Policy issues, ensuring compliance with procedures
  • Oversee training and communication of guidelines to designated staff
  • Serve as site Fire Controller

Quality Assurance

  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, innovation, and corrective actions
  • Implement feasible suggestions for advancement
  • Ensure all despatched products meet accepted company quality guidelines and promote a quality-centred culture

Maintenance & Operations Control

  • Manage planned maintenance of premises
  • Resolve occurring faults
  • Collaborate effectively with all personnel as required

Production Planning & Customer Compliance

  • Plan and schedule production to meet agreed specifications and customer requirements
  • Approve test reports on process equipment in alignment with NHS guidelines

Staff Monitoring & Performance Support

  • Monitor absence levels and analyse data:
    • Engage with Team Leaders
    • Interview staff as needed
    • Refer employees to the Company Medical Advisor
  • Coach employees in accordance with Synergy Health Performance Management policies, supporting:
    • Operational success
    • Induction mentorship as required

Financial & Budgetary Responsibilities

  • Agree on financial parameters and budgets
  • Monitor adherence to financial targets
  • Ensure rigorous monitoring and control

Emergency Management & Cross-functional Engagement

  • Participate in the on-call management service to provide emergency services to customers
  • Lead and promote participation in all Company communications initiatives, including:
    • Team Briefings
    • Employee forums
    • Staff meetings

General Compliance

  • Undertake any reasonable management request

Required Experience

The Manager, Operations should demonstrate:

Leadership & Change Management

  • Leadership experience to:
    • Drive results by encouraging contributions
    • Address important issues
    • Act as a catalyst for change and continuous improvement

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Experience fostering teamwork:
    • Creating synergistic, problem-solving teams
    • Enhancing department success through collective efforts

Coaching & Development

  • Ability to lead, develop, and guide employees by:
    • Establishing a feedback-driven environment
    • Providing constructive and positive feedback
    • Addressing performance issues
    • Grooming employees for advancement opportunities

Technical Proficiency

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Preferred: Experience with Oracle

Business Acumen

  • Experience understanding and working with:
    • Company financials
    • Department cost structures
    • Budgets
    • Operating costs
