Job Description

What you can expect

Fixed Term Contract from 1st Aug 2026 to 1st Jan 2027

Working Hours

  • Friday: 08:00 – 16:00 (7.5 hours)
  • Saturday: 06:00 – 18:00 (11.5 hours)
  • Sunday: 06:00 – 18:00 (11.5 hours)
  • Monday: 08:00 – 16:00 (7.5 hours)

Warehouse Management

  • Establish and maintain a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure warehouse housekeeping is maintained to 5S standards and audit scores maintained.
  • Ensure Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of work, and Standard Operating Procedures are maintained and updated accordingly.
  • Ensure the most cost-effective methods of operations are used while achieving the level of service to customers.
  • Ensure the Rhenus warehouse is adequately staffed to manage all areas to meet the customers SLA’s and KPI’s.
  • Ensure that the site stockholding and operational work areas are created to maximize the site capacity.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of Inventory both systematically and physically.
  • Manage relevant stocktakes and audits within the agreed deadlines.
  • Accountable for ensuring any new initiatives, new customers, or projects are implemented and the expected deliverables are achieved.
  • Monitoring and controlling assets within the relevant site.
  • Support and implement continuous improvement programs throughout the operations.
  • Development of colleagues to ensure the continued performance and growth of the business.
  • Ensure employee communications are maintained including but not limited to; team briefs conducted to all teams across all shift patterns & appropriate interactions with direct reports.
  • Drive high levels of employee engagement.

KPIs

  • Target Zero lost time accidents.
  • Reporting on incidents, accidents, and near misses relating to Health & Safety.
  • Operational costs delivered to budget.
  • Quality and Service metrics delivered to customer and business standards as defined by the business.
  • Employee engagement rating delivered to required standards as defined by the business.
  • Ensure that time sheets are up to date.
  • Completion of daily reports.
  • Labour statistics.

Support Services

  • To monitor all on-site contracts & support services to ensure they provide a high-quality service in a cost-effective manner and within agreed budgets.
  • Ensuring effective maintenance and housekeeping of the Rhenus site to ensure the site is capable of supporting the service requirements of the customer.
  • To ensure an effective security operation is in place that manages risk to employees and prevents loss.
  • Ensure the health and safety, welfare at work of your colleagues.
  • Manage and conduct work activities in such a way as to prevent any improper conduct or behavior likely to endanger employees.
  • The maintenance of good employee relations with an effective workforce throughout the site with the support of the HR function.
  • Working in partnership with the IT department to provide the resources to function within the operations.

KPIs

  • Site Security is maintained.
  • Accidents and incidents managed to prevent risk and injury to all persons attending site.
  • ER KPIs
  • Absence Management.
  • Maintenance requests for site completed.

Creating the Best Team

  • Manage and lead the operational team ensuring that they have the relevant skill sets, resources, and support needed to deliver in their role and achieve the site objectives.
  • Lead the operational team in a manner that is consistent with the culture and core values of the business.
  • Train and develop colleagues to ensure that they are equipped to perform their role effectively and in accordance with company operating procedures.
  • Support with the ongoing development for colleagues and operational management with the assistance of HR training function.
  • To meet & improve on agreed quality standards through effective and efficient utilisation of labor and MHE equipment.
  • Ensure appropriate probationary reviews and personal performance reviews (PPR’s) are conducted within the agreed deadlines set by the business.
  • Set team objectives & targets that are aligned to the business plan. Support and implement the site engagement plans.
  • Assist and develop with employees listening groups.
  • Identify, develop, and retain talent within the business.
  • The ability to manage change throughout the business.

What you bring

Skills & Knowledge

  • GSCE Maths and English grade B or above or equivalent.
  • Logistics / Warehouse Management Qualifications Level 4 or above.
  • Full driving license.
  • IT skills, including Advanced Microsoft / Excel.
  • The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of implementing processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced people environment.
  • Great communicator.
  • Positive attitude & drive results.
  • Teamwork and Information Management.

  • CI & 5S
  • 2 years’ experience in an Operations Manager role within Distribution / Logistics.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proactive approach to own continuous development.
