Operations Manager
Operations Manager – Permanent Role at North Middlesex University Hospital
Location: North Middlesex University Hospital Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) Salary: Competitive with a comprehensive benefits package
About the Role
Equans is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the performance management of a designated facilities service contract at North Middlesex University Hospital. This role ensures compliance with contract specifications, company procedures, and client protocols while managing all associated subcontractors effectively.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Maintaining performance standards for contracted FM services
- Aligning activities with client-led and legal requirements
- Managing financial performance, expenditure, and cost savings
- Ensuring safety and compliance with health, safety, and COSHH protocols
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in hard facilities management (FM), an electrical bias, and strong leadership in healthcare environments.
What You Will Deliver
Core Responsibilities

Service Delivery Excellence:
- Ensure services are provided to the highest standard, adhering to contractual and company requirements
- Manage a talented team to deliver outstanding customer service and staff relations
- Monitor and report on compliance with contractual obligations, including financial penalty avoidance

Financial & Commercial Oversight:
- Manage expenditure and income within agreed budgets to maximise profitability
- Contribute to budget formulation, business planning, and strategic alignment
- Prepare accurate quotes, estimates, tenders, and financial reports post-project

HR & Team Management:
- Oversee all HR-related matters, including probation, performance reviews, absences, and disciplinary procedures
- Work closely with the contract HR Manager to ensure procedures are followed
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team, fostering a collaborative, professional work environment

Stakeholder & Risk Management:
- Lead service delivery and customer interactions, representing Equans professionally
- Manage subcontractors to ensure timely, compliant, and safe service delivery
- Schedule and review service performance regularly
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and maintain all health and safety documentation

Operational Compliance & Maintenance:
- Verify equipment safety before use and ensure all maintenance schedules are adhered to
- Ensure all COSHH and risk assessments are up-to-date and industry/legally compliant

Requirements & Skills
Ideal candidates must possess:
- Proven background in Facilities Management, preferably with a hard FM or electrical bias
- Desirable experience in the Healthcare sector (aligning with PFI contracts)
- Demonstrable capability in managing local authority legislation and compliance requirements
- Superior verbal, written, and numerical skills, with strong computer literacy
- Excellent stakeholder management, delegation, and self-motivation skills
- Experience working in large-scale multi-disciplinary teams
