About the Role
We offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Permanent Operations Manager to lead our FM England PFI contract within the Bradford Schools account.
This role requires ownership of up to 3 school sites, management of 2 direct reports (Premises Managers), and autonomous leadership. A UK driving licence and PFI experience are essential, along with an educational background. Engagement with schools, performance delivery, and operational compliance will be key priorities.
Amey manages facilities and estate services across 10 schools (7 secondary and 3 with Special Educational Needs) under the Bradford Schools Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract.
Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership:
- Line management of staff across the account
- Client engagement and relationship building

Performance & Compliance:
- Drive performance in alignment with the Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- Ensure operational efficiency and statutory compliance
- Act as the escalation point for customer issues

Financial & Strategic Oversight:
- Manage budgets and P&L
- Deliver cost-effective services while maintaining contract profitability
- Monitor monthly service delivery performance and report findings

- Facilities Management Support:
- Provide leadership to school sites for efficient, compliant operations
- Collaborate with the Account Manager to meet contractual obligations
Requirements
Essential:
- PFI/Education background (familiarity with sector-specific roles)
- Expertise in People Management (leading teams effectively)
- Experience in client-facing senior engagements
- Strong knowledge of Facilities Management, Compliance, and Operations
- Health & Safety awareness
- Multi-site operations management
- Financial acumen (budgeting, profit/loss review)
Technical & Soft Skills:
- Proficient planning/organisational skills for works/programs
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders (school staff, clients)
- IT fluency for operational processes
- Fully validated UK driving licence
