Job Title: Operations Manager

Salary: £40,000 per year

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Office based in Southport

ABOUT US

MCL Medics is a UK-wide provider of occupational health, remote medical services and employee assistance programmes, trusted by employers across the country to keep their people safe, well and at work. We are growing, and we are strengthening how we run our operations to match.

THE ROLE

This is a new role at the centre of our growth. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will take day-to-day ownership of operational delivery: health surveillance programmes, our onsite occupational health nurses and the team that books in our clients’ varied requests. One person, overseeing end to end processes for performance, quality and client experience.

It suits someone who wants real ownership and the room to make a visible difference, in a business small enough for you to shape and busy enough to keep you stretched.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Plan capacity and resources across teams, clinicians, equipment and client sites, so the right people are in the right place at the right time.
  • Directly lead and develop a team of managers and coordinators, while keeping our onsite nursing team under clear day-to-day operational management.
  • Own service performance against SLAs: turnaround times, quality, compliance and accurate billing.
  • Build cover and resilience into the operation, so delivery does not depend on any one person being available.
  • Continuous improvement across your processes: spot what could work better, design the fix and be empowered to make the change.
  • Maintain compliance processes across your scope of work, in accordance with GDPR and our ISO standards.
  • Be a key player, working closely with our leadership team to align on company goals.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven operational management experience, ideally in occupational health or a similar regulated healthcare environment.
  • A natural logistics thinker: you see how people, equipment, locations and time fit together, you spot the bottleneck before it bites, and you enjoy solving the puzzle of complex delivery.
  • Dynamic and solution focused, and just as strong on delivering the solution as designing it. This is a hands-on role.
  • An excellent people manager who builds capable, motivated teams and is comfortable managing other managers.
  • Confident working alongside clinical leadership, without holding clinical accountability.
  • A full UK driving licence and the willingness to travel to client sites.
