Operations Manager (Logistics) – Amazon UK
Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business ensures fulfillment and dispatch of orders efficiently, so customers receive their items on time. Operations Managers drive excellence in safety, quality, and productivity, uniting teams across our sites to set the operational strategy that helps teams meet their targets. This role empowers you to shape the Amazon of tomorrow through operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a team of Area Managers, fostering growth and collaboration.
- Lead operational teams during shifts, addressing challenges and proactively improving site performance.
- Analyze shift performance against key business objectives and implement actions to enhance operational excellence.
- Collaborate closely with support teams, including HR, Finance, Health & Safety, and Security to drive coordination.
- Design and deliver initiatives to optimize operational performance across multiple sites.
A Day in the Life
As an Operations Manager, your work bridges day-to-day deliveries while shaping future innovations. Key responsibilities include:
- Leadership on-site: Oversee shifts and manage day-to-day operations while acting as a liaison between teams.
- Performance deeper dives: Review metrics, risk assessments, and demand projections to inform strategy.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Lead meetings with multiple departments (e.g., operations, finance, logistics).
- Mentorship & coaching: Guide, support, and develop your team to drive high performance and managerial excellence.

Basic Qualifications
- A degree (any discipline).
- Proven experience in people and stakeholder management.
- Advanced written and verbal English skills; intermediate local-language fluency.
- Ability to use data or anecdotal evidence to support business decisions.
- Experience in production and supply chain operations.
Preferred Qualifications
(Not mandatory for consideration, but advantageous)
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Past experience in a similar logistical or operations-focused environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional setting.
