Director of Operations – Energy Sector Projects (Scotland)
About the Role
A senior operational leadership opportunity to lead the delivery of energy sector projects across Scotland, driving performance, safety, and growth.
Industry Experience
- Proven senior operational leadership in construction, engineering, M&E, energy, utilities, or industrial projects
- Strong familiarity with the Scottish market, with experience delivering projects across Scotland
- Focused on energy sector including renewables, power, utilities, or related infrastructure
- Experience in managing geographically dispersed project portfolios
Leadership
- Established leader of high-performing teams, with a track record of building, developing, and retaining talent
- Ability to create accountability, drive performance, and foster a positive work culture
- Experience leading:
- Project Managers
- Site Managers
- Commercial teams
- Planning functions
Commercial Acumen
- Strong commercial awareness with responsibility for:
- Project profitability
- Risk management
- Contract performance
- Proven experience in:
- Budget oversight, forecasting, cost control
- Client relationship management
- Identifying growth and operational improvement opportunities

- Leading operational delivery for the Scottish project portfolio
- Ensuring projects meet safety, quality, programme, and financial targets
- Collaborating closely with Commercial, Planning, and Project Delivery teams
- Developing client relationships and identifying business growth opportunities
- Driving continuous improvement in operations, planning, and project controls
- Providing:
- Leadership
- Mentorship
- Succession planning within operational teams
- Delivering the current portfolio of energy sector projects
Candidate Profile
An experienced senior operational leader with:
✔ Significant Scottish industry experience (preferably in electrical construction, engineering, or energy sectors) ✔ A blend of strong people leadership, commercial acumen, and programme planning ✔ Willingness to manage projects across Scotland, from Central Belt to Highlands/Northeast ✔ Proven ability to travel regularly to key locations for efficient delivery
