Christ Church Summerfield is a diverse and growing church in North Edgbaston. We have a vision to see the people of North Edgbaston living lives of hope in Jesus’ name, particularly focussing on under 25’s and those experiencing social isolation. The aim of our staff team is to serve the wider community and provide resources for mission and ministry of the church. You’re invited to join us.
What Are We Looking For?
We are looking to recruit an Operations Manager to support the mission of Christ Church Summerfield and provide a foundation for our ministries as we achieve our vision as a church. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the church, aiding the Lead Pastors, Ministry Leads and PCC in decision making and practical management both long and short term.
Key Skills and Qualities
- Exceptional leadership and management skills
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Experience of overseeing operations, preferably in a church setting
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Be flexible and innovative, able to adapt to changing circumstances and to develop new ways of working
- Ability to juggle a broad range of responsibilities
- An open heart and “can-do” attitude
- Good time management skills with a proven ability to prioritise workload
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- Good administrative skills
- A willingness to work with Christ Church Summerfield’s values
- Personal walk with Jesus underpinning a lifestyle of integrity
- There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post-holder be a practising Christian

Job Description & Information
Job Title: Operations Manager
Responsible to: Lead Pastor
Hours: 21 hours per week (This post is not generally Sunday working. Midweek flexible working, office is currently open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays)
Pay: £31,937 pro rata
Contract: Permanent contract with 3 month probation.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Lead day-to-day church operations, systems, administration, and team coordination.
- Plan and oversee Sundays, events, projects, bookings, and annual calendar management.
- Support staff, volunteers, safeguarding, communications, and internal processes.
- Manage governance, compliance, finance administration, and reporting requirements.
- Oversee church buildings, facilities, contractors, health & safety, and site maintenance.
- Coordinate baptisms, weddings, funerals, and external hall/church bookings.
- Work closely with the Lead Pastor, ministry leads, PCC, and serving teams to ensure smooth and sustainable church operations.

Additional duties and support as agreed with the Lead Pastor
