We're seeking an Operations Manager to bring clarity, coordination, and momentum to a busy and high-profile business area. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about solving problems, driving performance, improving ways of working, and supporting senior leaders to deliver exceptional outcomes.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the business unit operates effectively, connecting people, processes, and priorities to help teams perform at their peak. Whether your background is in infrastructure, utilities, engineering, operations, project delivery, or another complex field, we welcome your expertise.
Key Responsibilities
As Operations Manager, you will serve as a trusted partner to the Business Unit Director, overseeing operational leadership, business insights, and coordination across a dynamic function.
Drive Operational Excellence
- Maintain clear visibility of workload, resources, performance, and operational risks.
- Coordinate business activities to align priorities with efficient and effective execution.
- Lead reporting, planning, and governance cycles across the business unit.
- Support teams in improving processes, removing barriers, and achieving consistently high standards.
Turn Data into Insight
- Develop and manage meaningful performance reporting and management information.
- Analyze trends and performance data to inform data-driven decision-making.
- Track business actions and ensure commitments are delivered.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations for operational and strategic priorities.

Support Leadership and Strategy
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Business Unit Director and leadership team.
- Lead business improvement initiatives, projects, and workstreams.
- Prepare high-quality papers, presentations, and communications for senior stakeholders.
- Coordinate leadership meetings, actions, and follow-up activities.
Build Strong Partnerships
- Foster collaborative relationships across Capital Delivery Operations and the wider business.
- Support cross-functional programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Help create consistency, alignment, and knowledge-sharing across teams.
Champion People and Culture
- Guide workforce planning, onboarding, and capability development.
- Organize team engagement events, workshops, and communications.
- Contribute to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture where everyone thrives.
What We’re Looking For

Essential
- Experience in coordinating operations, business management, programme delivery, or performance management.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify key insights.
- Excellent organization and planning skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
- Experience producing reports, presentations, or management information to support decision-making.

Desirable
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
- Background in a regulated, operational, or infrastructure-focused environment.
- Familiarity with governance, business planning, or performance frameworks.
- Experience using reporting tools, dashboards, or data visualization techniques.
