Position: Operations Manager

Contract Type: Permanent – 45 hours

Location: Peterborough

Shift: Mon - Fri 07:00 - 17:00

What you’ll do:

  • To effectively and efficiently manage the site operation, in line with the operational core values and in accordance with the principles of the Company ‘Mission Statement’.
  • To motivate, coach and develop a site team to achieve excellence in all areas of the operation. A focused and as necessary hands-on approach is required in some areas. The main role aim is to achieve excellence on standards of service and to liaise and work with the Site manager to ensure that KPI’s and minimum standards are achieved as detailed in the site plan.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all Health and Safety policies and procedures are complied with within own area of control (as stated in the employee handbook/displayed at the location) in line with Location Risk Assessments
  • Work area to be kept clean and tidy and in a safe state
  • Adhere to all Security Policies and Procedures as outlined in the employee handbook displayed at the location
  • Report any breach in location Security to the location Security Team
  • Ensure that all Key Performance Indicators are achieved
  • Present a caring and helpful attitude at all times towards customers and team
  • Ensure that all verbal and written communication is appropriate and in line with Data Protection Regulations
  • Behave towards other employees in a polite and respectful manner
  • Respect other workers religious/personal beliefs
  • Adhere to the company Harassment Policy
  • Always use appropriate language when speaking to other workers
  • Comply with Company guidelines in relation to timekeeping, attendance, work performance, appearance and display appropriate behaviour whilst on site
  • Maintain Company C&D driver standards in both appearance and performance. Ensure that all drivers are in full uniform at all times and that they are competent and able to provide the level of service required. Ensure that all drivers maintain communication and are contactable by the Hub at all times
  • Monitor Sub-contractor performance by way of Quarterly formal reviews in line with the requirements of the Service Level Agreement
  • Develop a good understanding of the Sub-contractor Agreement and Service Level Agreement in order to ensure that the services provided meet the Company requirements
  • Ensure that the interior and exterior of the site portrays a professional Company image and safe environment, for employees and visitors to site
  • Ensure that employees and Sub-contractors are regularly briefed, following the company briefing procedure, in line with Company communication strategy
  • Ensure that employee performance is well managed and that Annual Performance Reviews are conducted in line with the Company review procedure. Hold follow up reviews to ensure that employee development plans are introduced and followed, in conjunction with the Learning and Development team
  • Ensure that the operational service provided by the site achieves and exceeds Company minimum standards
  • Prepare for monthly Challenge meetings which will incorporate all aspects of site performance including cost control initiatives and ongoing management in line with the site plan.
  • Review cost performance against location agreed budget to ensure that costs are in line with agreed targets.
  • Ensure that the site compliance schedule is regularly updated and that targeted improvements are achieved and maintained
  • Plan, forecast and monitor employee numbers against productivity levels, as specified in the site plan, to ensure appropriate resource is in place
  • In line with the company ‘Risk’ reduction strategy, ensure that Company standards are rigidly adhered to on site, to prevent potential losses and that the agreed site ‘lock down’ procedures are followed on every occasion
  • As outlined within the role core responsibilities, ensure that site health and safety procedures and safe working practices are implemented and strictly adhered to
  • In conjunction with the Health and Safety department, ensure all areas of risk are assessed and documented appropriately
  • Ensure that you are in possession of all appropriate data and information necessary to enter into cogent debate when challenged on aspects of the site performance
  • Review monitor and ensure all site records are updated, particularly, but not exclusively transport, to ensure that these are in compliance with statutory and company requirements and that these will meet with strict compliance and audit procedures
  • Carry out any other duties that may be reasonably required in the context of the job role, or as instructed by the Site Manager or Regional Operations Director.
  • Manage customer traffic profile in line with company standards, ensuring non compatible traffic is managed and priced correctly. (Long lengths, volumetric traffic)
