Operations Manager - Exhibitions & Live Events

Operations Manager

Sector: Exhibitions & Live Events Location: London Working Hours: Full-time, permanent WFH / Office / Remote: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office, with travel and onsite work required

Reporting to: Head of Operations Direct reports: None directly (manages contractors, suppliers, and event staffing) Salary: £42,000 + 10% bonus


About the Role

A global events organisation is seeking a highly organised and proactive Operations Manager to support the delivery of major international exhibitions. This hybrid role involves:

  • Leading operational planning for a large-scale launch event in Europe
  • Supporting a flagship UK exhibition

The position requires strong leadership, budget management, supplier negotiation, and the ability to deliver under high-pressure, onsite environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Budget management: Oversee financial planning and expenditure for events
  • Supplier negotiation & management: Secure contracts with vendors and service providers
  • Health & safety oversight: Ensure compliance and safety standards at all events
  • Exhibitor operations: Coordinate exhibitor logistics, customer service, and partnerships
  • Build-and-breakdown coordination: Oversee stage, booth, and AV setups, ensuring timelines are met
  • Contractor management: Supervise third-party vendors, including staffing agencies
  • On-site delivery: Manage live event operations under demanding conditions
  • Multi-priority handling: Effectively balance competing deadlines and event demands

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in exhibitions, live events, or operations within a high-volume environment
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, vendors, and stakeholders efficiently
  • Strong organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • ability to prioritise tasks in dynamic, high-pressure situations
  • Flexibility for travel and onsite work, including evenings/weekends
  • Ideal candidate will have:
    • Hands-on experience in event execution and logistics
    • Excellent ** relationship management** under pressure
    • Understanding of decision-making frameworks, risk assessment, and safety protocols

Creative and client-facing energy paired with meticulous planning will be essential for success.
