Operations Manager

Salary – Competitive
Hours – 40 hours per week
Location & Postcode – EnviRecover, WY10 4JD

As an Operations Manager at FCC Environment, you will fulfil a senior role within the site management team and be responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Energy from Waste facility. You will provide leadership and direction to the Operations team, ensuring safe operational continuity and stable plant performance, effective team development and continuous improvement across the site.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading, managing and developing the Operations team to support a strong team-working culture
  • Ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the facility
  • Working closely with the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager to promote a safe working environment
  • Overseeing shift patterns, team availability and operational coverage
  • Supporting accident, incident and near-miss reporting processes where required
  • Managing the development, delivery and review of operational procedures
  • Working closely with Maintenance teams to maximise plant availability and performance
  • Supporting planned and unplanned outages safely and effectively
  • Managing departmental budgets and external technical support contracts where required
  • Supporting the Operations Team to ensure maximum plant availability
  • Deputising for the Plant Manager when required

What are we looking for?

  • A credible and experienced leader with strong leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience of leading, developing and motivating teams
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Detailed knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation relevant to steam-powered electricity generation
  • Knowledge and experience of Safe Systems of Work, Safety Rules and Permit to Work systems
  • Minimum HNC in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience within an operations and engineering environment
  • Experience working with process plant related to steam-powered electricity generation
  • Computer literacy
  • The ability to communicate, influence and work collaboratively at all levels
  • A flexible, performance-driven approach with commitment and resilience
