Operations Manager
Operations Manager
You will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and control of all laboratory and/or site services operations within your area. Your role is to ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely, and within agreed timescales while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all laboratory and site services operations, ensuring testing activities align with client requirements and project deadlines.
- Develop and manage testing schedules, adjusting priorities and resources as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
- Deliver operations in a cost-effective manner, optimising resources while upholding service quality.
- Determine resource requirements, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet operational demands.
- Prepare project timescales, cost estimates, and operational plans for contracts and service delivery.
- Establish, monitor, and maintain quality standards, implementing robust quality control programmes for consistency and compliance.
- Monitor testing and operational processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrections where needed.
- Oversee the selection, utilisation, maintenance, calibration, and replacement of equipment to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Health & Safety, Procurement, Technical, and Operational teams to meet business objectives.
- Support Managers and Directors in implementing company policies, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement programmes.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring all activities comply with legislation and company procedures.
- Lead, motivate, and develop operational teams, fostering a productive and positive working environment.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching/training to enhance team effectiveness.
- Identify training and competency needs for team members and yourself, ensuring assessments and documentation are completed.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and evidence for accreditation and compliance.
- Drive the effective implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 and related standards.

Key Skills and Experience
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Proven experience in laboratory, testing, technical, or operational management roles.
- Sound knowledge of Quality Management Systems and BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Exceptional planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Strong commercial awareness, including budgeting and cost control.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commitment to health, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
