Operations Manager – Warehousing & Logistics

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

As Operations Manager, you will:

  • Lead the site management team, overseeing all operational activities within the warehouse.
  • Influence financial performance, health and safety, and customer satisfaction while ensuring clear communication.
  • Include additional duties relevant to your skills and experience.

Core Duties:

  • Safety Leadership:
    • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance, aligning operations with Maersk procedures and legislation.

  • Performance & Efficiency:

    • Set, meet, and exceed KPIs in safety, quality, and productivity, identifying ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Team Management:

    • Lead, coach, and develop the team to meet productivity targets while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Foster strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to align performance with agreed quality and service standards.
  • Financial Oversight:

    • Support budget setting and adherence, contributing to the site’s financial success.
  • Resource Management:

    • Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet customer and business demands.
  • Operations Coordination:

    • Oversee inbound, outbound, and internal stock movements, resolving issues promptly.
  • Compliance & Logistics:

    • Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly compliance for goods movement, collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Strategic Improvement:

    • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site success. Work with internal teams to identify gains.
  • Learning & Development:

    • Demonstrate personnel management expertise, including handling absenteeism, disciplinary matters, and grievances.
    • Showcase a commitment to ongoing personal development.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing warehouse operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain and logistics processes.
  • Extensive experience in adhering to HSE standards.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams.
  • KPI and budgetary responsibility experience.
  • Exceptional verbal, numerical, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Technologies (including Warehouse Management Systems).
  • Background in customer-facing roles able to engage at all organisational levels.
  • Ability to build partnerships and collaborate with colleagues, contractors, and third parties.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of bonded warehouses and customs processes.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
  • International Transport Manager CPC qualification.
