The Role
The Operations Manager holds a central leadership position, overseeing complex offshore projects across the UK and North West Europe, with a primary focus on subsea cable installation and repair.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading vessel operations, offshore teams, subcontractors, and client relationships
- Ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution within Briggs Marine’s Subsea Services division
This position blends operational leadership, technical oversight, and strategic project delivery, making it ideal for experienced offshore professionals seeking high-impact challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Coordination
- Lead planning and execution of subsea cable installation and repair projects, coordinating offshore teams, vessels, and subcontractors
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and develop the offshore operations team, maintaining competency matrices and mentoring staff to enhance capability
- Oversee technical governance by producing and updating departmental procedures, method statements, and operational documentation

Subcontractor & Commercial Management
- Manage critical subcontractor relationships, fostering long-term strategic partnerships to ensure reliable offshore project delivery
- Provide technical input during tender development, ensuring safe, economical, and effective installation methodologies
Client Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the key point of contact for existing and prospective subsea clients, maintaining strong communication and alignment
- Facilitate client project lifecycles, ensuring alignment with business objectives
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Leadership
- Champion HSE performance, modelling best practice and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards
Process Improvement & Efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to boost efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance performance without compromising safety or quality
The Candidate
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (marine, mechanical, electrical, civil, or related)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in subsea cables, offshore construction, or marine operations
- Proven project management background within the subsea cable or offshore wind sectors
- Strong technical expertise in vessel operations and offshore project logistics
