Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Operations Manager role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. The Operations Manager will oversee daily freight and logistics activities, including planning and coordinating customs clearance, European road freight, international shipments, and multi-modal transport operations.

Responsibilities include:

- Managing shipment scheduling
- Monitoring transit times
- Resolving operational issues
- Ensuring compliance with customs, safety, and regulatory requirements
The role involves supervising and supporting operations staff, allocating resources, and maintaining high service standards for customers and partners. The Operations Manager will also collaborate with carriers, customs brokers, and internal teams to optimize processes, control costs, and improve operational performance through data-driven decision making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in logistics or freight operations, ideally with exposure to customs clearance, European road freight, international transportation, or multi-modal logistics.
- Strong operational planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities under time constraints.
- Knowledge of customs regulations, trade documentation, and compliance requirements relevant to UK and international transport.
- Team leadership and people management abilities, including coaching, performance oversight, and fostering a collaborative, safety-focused culture.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients, carriers, and internal departments.
- Comfort using transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse or logistics software, and standard office tools (e.g., spreadsheets, reporting tools).
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure accurate documentation, data integrity, and process consistency.
- Ability to work on-site in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility to respond to operational needs and occasional peak-period demands.
- Relevant education in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in continuous improvement, cost control, and KPI-based performance management is beneficial.
