About the Organisation
This role is with Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, operating under the joint venture BYLOR. Their Mandate: Deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC), a £2.8 billion project.
Bylor is pushing the boundaries with innovation, modern technology, and world-class construction quality. Recent achievements include a UK record for the largest continuous concrete pour (9,000m³).

Role Purpose
Support the Quality Director in:
- Overseeing quality management arrangements and measuring their effectiveness
- Driving improvement projects to optimise quality across the project
- Leading key elements of the project’s quality assurance strategy as part of the Quality Leadership team.
Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
Audits
- Manage internal and external audits for BYLOR’s direct delivery work and tier 2 scopes, adhering to existing procedures.
- Coordinate internal/external auditor training for colleagues.
- Track audit findings, report on outcomes via digital tools (FieldView, Qlik).
- Monitor closure of all audit findings.
Quality Management System (QMS)
- Update/support sitewide QMS documentation (e.g. Quality Plans, ISO9001 alignment), review/submit updates from others.
- Key deliverables include: Quality Plans, Quality Inspection & Test Plans, templates.
- Ensure alignment with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Communicate safety & nuclear safety principles across BYLOR teams.

Handover & Close-Out
- Oversee completion/handover processes, ensuring works align with project requirements.
- Lead the integration and adoption of digital engineering tools for quality management.
People Management
- Lead a team of Quality Managers, Engineers & Inspectors within the Completions team.
- Coach staff (including senior management) to drive quality improvements and uphold continuous performance.
Surveillance
- Review surveillance plans for site and offsite T2 works.
- Jointly coordinate T2 surveillance programs, ensuring targeted resourcing.
- Manage rollout of enhanced quality checks (QC) across the site, collaborating with Workforce & BYLOR delivery teams.
Training, Learning & Improvement
-Collaborate with the quality training lead to develop site-wide training and promote a quality culture.

Create and deliver quality fundamentals training for new/established team members.

Identify improvements and define action plans while managing implementation.

Support SCQI (Surveillance Certification Quality Institute) and promote development of quality professionals.

Act as the primary liaison with parent company quality briefings (e.g. Laing O’Rourke/Bouygues updates).

Cascade policy & KPI information across the project.
Key Skills & Competencies

- Prior experience: As a Quality Lead, Quality Manager, or Senior Quality Surveillance professional in civil engineering.
- Communication: Verbally fluent with capability to address teams (including contractors, suppliers and stakeholders).
- Organisation: High-performing multi-tasker able to manage planning complexities.
- Digital literacy: MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), + experience with reporting tools (Qlik, FieldView) is preferred.
- Prior experience in: Project handovers (completions), large-scale civilisation, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Certifications: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Necessary; CQI Membership (future-proof advantage).

Location & Work Environment
- Base location: Primary work site located at Hinkley Point C, Somerset (site is fully supported with all on-site accommodation).
- Requires frequent external audits at partner locations.
- The region offers Scenic English countryside, coastal access, towns of Bristol & Exeter, and convenient M5 motorway proximity.
