Operations Supervisor

Type:

Thor Atkinson Steel Fabrications has recently invested millions of pounds in modern crushing, screening, and heavy mobile plant. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an organised, motivated, and proactive Operations Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of our crushing operations in North Yorkshire/Cumbria.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business where you'll become an integral part of the management team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Area Manager, you'll work alongside the Crushing Production Manager to ensure our operations remain organised, compliant, efficient, and profitable.

This is a varied role combining operational planning, compliance, administration, and commercial support.

No two days will be the same.

Main Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Produce site-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Maintain site safety files
  • Maintain training records
  • Ensure all documentation is current and compliant
  • Carry out compliance inspections

Operational Planning

  • Organise deliveries
  • Coordinate transport
  • Book service engineers where required
  • Schedule planned maintenance
  • Liaise with customers regarding site requirements

Cost Control

  • Monitor fuel usage
  • Track maintenance expenditure
  • Raise purchase orders

Administration

  • Maintain plant files
  • Update maintenance records
  • Manage document control
  • File inspection reports
  • Keep operational records up to date

Communication

  • Work alongside the Production Manager
  • Liaise with customers
  • Coordinate subcontractors
  • Assist senior management

What We're Looking For

Ideally, you'll have experience within one of the following:

  • Quarrying / Aggregates
  • Recycling
  • Heavy plant
  • Construction

You'll Also Have

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • A positive attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
