Operations Team Leader – Fisher Clinical Services
Role: Team Leader (Operations) Location: Fisher Clinical Services, Thermo Fisher Scientific Work Schedule: 7½-hour shift, Monday–Friday (2:00 PM–10:15 PM)
Environmental Conditions
Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory safety standards. Work in cold rooms/freezers (-22°F / -6°C). Personal protective equipment (PPE) required (e.g. safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coats, ear plugs).

Position Summary & Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate regulated ambient, cold-chain, and frozen operations while ensuring: ✔ Safe, compliant, and high-efficiency execution of customer demand. ✔ Alignment with Thermo Fisher Scientific values and GMP/cGMP standards.
Leadership & Accountability
- Lead, coach, and develop operational teams to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Plan resource allocation and scheduling to ensure on-time, in-full delivery and seamless shift coordination.
- Hold full accountability for daily operational performance, quality, and scheduling compliance.

Safety & Compliance
- Champion a safety-first culture by identifying, escalating, and investigating EHS risks, incidents, and near misses.
- Maintain compliance with cGMP, safety, and quality regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Promote continuous improvement using PPI Lean Process methodologies.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Raise/resolve Quality Records (e.g. CAPAs) through the Quality Management System.
- Develop and maintain departmental KPIs, supporting tier-board reviews.
Employee Development & Relations
- Conduct performance discussions, assessments, and absence management.
- Support onboarding, induction, training, competency management, and upskilling.
Audit & Regulatory Support
- Represent operations in internal/external audits (clients & regulators) and implement corrective actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Quality, Engineering, Planning, HR, IT, Facilities, suppliers, and contractors.
- Authorise purchase orders and manage operational costs as required.
- Deputise for Operations Management when needed.
Housekeeping & Ad-Hoc Responsibilities
- Ensure high housekeeping and safety standards.
- Address any additional tasks as directed by senior management.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Proven supervisory/management experience in manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or high-throughput operations.
- Adeptness in heavily regulated environments (GMP, GxP compliance).
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, organisational skills.
- IT-literate (Microsoft Office, ERP systems) and proficient with automated equipment.
- Able to work in cold environments, including -20°C, if required.
Desirable Experience

- Degree or equivalent operational expertise.
- PPI Lean, continuous improvement, or similar methodologies.
- Regulatory inspection and client audit support.
- Background in batch manufacturing, inventory management, high-throughput supply chain operations.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Requirements include:
- Frequent typing, sitting, standing, walking, and manual handling tasks (lifting, carrying loads).
- Potential use of dry ice, liquid nitrogen, and hazardous agents (with full PPE adherence).
- May involve pushing heavy carts, working at heights, and operating automated machinery.
- Standardised shift work—Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:15 PM.
