Operations Supervisor

Are you excited by the opportunity to supervise a team of operatives in a fast-paced, operational environment? Do you want to work for one of the UK's leading Port Operators, where you will be able to develop your skills and experience in a diverse role as part of a supportive team? We are seeking a Supervisor to join our team in Liverpool.

Your Role

Working within the Liverpool Steels and Metals Terminal, you will lead operations on a day-to-day basis, ensuring the team has appropriate safety briefings and guidance to carry out their work safely and efficiently. You will maintain awareness of changes to Health and Safety legislation, supervising activities including lifting operations, vessel discharge, cargo handling and operations, and safe use of plant and equipment whilst driving operational efficiency and compliance across the site.

You will conduct risk assessments (including dynamic risk assessments) and operational reporting for management. Raising Hazard Observations and completing site inspections to maintain a safe working environment.

As Supervisor, as well as vessel operations, you will also oversee the safe and correct delivery of outbound cargo to customers. You will also lead, mentor and develop operatives on site to help them maximize their performance and potential.

The Supervisor position is a multi-function role, predominantly in General Cargo and Steel Operations but with a requirement to apply your skills across other terminals, dependent upon experience, training, and business needs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
