Operations Supervisor
Shift Supervisor (FTC, 6–9 months) – Arvato

About the Role
Salary: £35,090 (pa) Hours: 13:45–22:15 (shift-based)
Contract Type: Fixed-term (6–9 months)
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your role will involve overseeing and coordinating staff activities to ensure operational efficiency and smooth execution. You’ll act as the first point of contact for issues while driving process improvement and quality assurance in a temperature-controlled environment.
Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Accountability
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team to achieve and surpass SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
- Distribute workload effectively, ensuring fair and productive assignments

Process & Operations Management
- Coordinate and implement processes to optimise daily business activities
- Plan and prioritise tasks while maintaining SLA compliance
- Work within SAP systems for reporting and operational oversight

Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Identify issues or inefficiencies and initiate corrective actions
- Conduct success control (tracking resolution effectiveness)
- Escalate technical/operational faults to relevant departments

Resource & Quality Management
- Participate in staff and infrastructure planning
- Create dashboards and reports for performance tracking
- Ensure adherence to quality and service-level specifications

People Management
- Reflect and contribute to HR-related responsibilities within your scope
- Maintain a focus on employee engagement and performance retention
Requirements
- Technical Proficiency
- Experience using computerised systems, particularly SAP
- Operational Knowledge
- Advantageous: Familiarity with temperature-controlled environments (e.g., pharmaceuticals, food logistics)
- Soft Skills
- Strong time management, organisational, and reliability skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with numerical and record-keeping abilities
- Attention to detail and ability to take ownership of issues
- Customer-focused mindset
- Job-Specific Attributes
- Proven ability to initiative and resolve issues from start to finish
- Quick adaptability to shift work and potentially training/temp roles if required
