Operations Supervisor - Grays
Operations Supervisor – Marine and Terminal Services (MATS)
Grays, Essex
We’re seeking a passionate and responsible candidate to take on the role of Operations Supervisor within our Marine and Terminal Services team at GAC UK.
About the Role
GAC UK delivers integrated shipping, logistics, and marine services to energy, shipping, marine leisure, sports, events, automotive, and aviation industries. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service and leadership across all sectors.
As Operations Supervisor, you’ll ensure smooth daily operations, staffing management, and compliance, while supporting business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations, delegating tasks and managing priorities to ensure efficient service delivery
- Maintain effective staffing levels through proper rostering and workforce planning to meet demand
- Train and develop team members to achieve high performance and meet operational targets
- Complete site training to enable operational cover when required
- Ensure workplace safety and compliance through audits, competency checks, and risk assessments
- Act as a primary customer contact
- Contribute to business development initiatives to widen the customer base

Job Requirements
Ideal candidates will meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Marine and Terminal Services-related work
- OOW or STCW qualifications (desirable but not essential)
- NEBOSH or IOSH Managing Safely certification (preferred for supervisory responsibilities)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Strong ability to adapt to changing environments and prioritise workloads effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven leadership ability and teamwork experience
