About The Role:
Days of Working: Based at John Howard Centre working 5 out of 7 days: Mon-Fri shifts 11:00 to 19:00, Sat-Sun Shift 07:00 - 19:00
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the day to day delivery of Soft FM services within inpatient units, including domestic services, portering, and catering oversight.
The role requires confident operational decision making within delegated authority, ensuring service standards are maintained, staffing is effectively managed, and contractual requirements are consistently met within a secure healthcare environment. Secure inpatient healthcare setting requiring professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity to clinical operations.
The post holder plays a key role in maintaining service stability, supporting frontline teams, and ensuring operational issues are identified and escalated appropriately.
As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and coordinate daily Soft FM service delivery across inpatient wards and departments.
- Ensure services are delivered in line with contractual standards and Trust requirements.
- Monitor operational performance and address service gaps promptly.
- Act as the first point of operational decision making and escalation on site.
- Support service continuity during periods of management absence.
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to frontline staff.
- Promote professional standards of conduct, performance, and customer service.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of staff.
- Manage attendance processes, including return to work discussions and absence monitoring.
- Address performance concerns in line with company procedures, escalating where required.
- Ensure all mandatory and role specific training is completed.
- Ensure services operate in line with Health & Safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine checks and audits to monitor service quality.
- Support investigations into complaints or incidents and ensure timely reporting.
- Promote continuous improvement through effective use of service data and feedback.
- Coordinate staffing levels and allocations to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
- Ensure workforce management systems are used accurately to support correct pay and staffing records.
- Escalate staffing risks or operational pressures in a timely manner.
- Provide supervisory oversight of catering services within inpatient areas.
- Ensure hygiene and service standards are maintained.
- Liaise with relevant teams to resolve operational issues where required.
- Maintain effective working relationships with Trust colleagues and internal stakeholders.
- Attend meetings as required and contribute constructively to service development.
- Communicate operational updates and risks clearly to the Facilities Manager.
- Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the role.
- Support a positive team culture aligned with company TRUST values.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to meet business needs.
- Promote and maintain a positive safety culture.
- Ensure work activities are appropriately supervised and conducted safely.
- Maintain personal competence in Health & Safety standards.
- Any other reasonable duties as requested by management.

Ideal Candidate Criteria:
Essential
- Must have Right to Work in the UK.
- An enhanced DBS will be completed for the successful candidate.
- Leadership or supervisory qualification.
- Supervisory experience within facilities, cleaning, or Soft FM services.
- Experience working within healthcare or other regulated environments.
- Experience managing large teams and addressing performance issues.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills with full Microsoft office knowledge.
- Ability to make confident decisions within a structured operational framework.
- Budgeting knowledge.
