Vantage is recruiting for an Operations Support Engineer on behalf of a global leader in smart buildings and energy management technology. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer looking to move beyond traditional installation or maintenance into a technical operations role supporting cutting-edge building monitoring systems.
You'll split your time between visiting a portfolio of commercial buildings across London and working remotely, supporting system performance, fault diagnostics and maintenance coordination. The role offers structured training, exposure to modern smart building technology and a genuine pathway into a senior Operations position.
Role Overview
As an Operations Support Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of energy monitoring and metering systems across a major commercial property portfolio. Working closely with field engineers, contractors and clients, you'll troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate maintenance activities and provide day-to-day operational support.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong electrical background who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and developing their technical knowledge within the smart buildings industry.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
