Job Title: Operations Support Manager
Location: Loughborough, UK
The Operations Support Manager will oversee the day-to-day management and delivery of activities carried out by the Operations Support teams within the Loughborough Laboratories. This facility specializes in testing consumer products within the construction, life protection and digital & connected industries. The role entails managing a variety of teams located on site and will report into the Head of Operations Support.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance: Ensuring all maintenance and inspection activities adhere to the CMMS schedule and compliance action plan. Minimizing downtime, maximizing right-first-time (RFT) outcomes, while considering budget constraints.
- Logistics: Processing samples in accordance with ISO 17025 accreditation, optimizing throughput and revenue opportunities.
- Leadership: Providing leadership to the team through an engagement framework, conducting regular one-to-one sessions to address issues related to wellbeing, workload, objectives, and professional development.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the formulation of strategic plans for Operations Support Team, aligning them with the overall objectives of the organization and the Product Certification business stream.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop and implement performance metrics to evaluate team performance.
- Quality Assurance: Uphold rigorous quality standards, implementing processes to review and approve project outputs before final delivery.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation.
- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to other BSI sites, suppliers, or clients will be required on a semi-regular basis.

To be successful in the role you will have:
- Experience in operational delivery encompassing maintenance, logistics, HSE, and administration functions ideally from a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in maintenance engineering and an electrical engineering background.
- Strong people management capabilities to handle a variety of day-to-day employee issues, as well as the ability to coach and facilitate employee development.
- Proficiency in budget management.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.

The guide salary for this position can range from £42,400 - £53,000 basic plus 5% bonus annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
