About The Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Team Leader to join our Manufacturing Operations team in Stafford. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will combine direct manufacturing responsibilities with the day-to-day leadership of a production team during the Friday-to-Monday shift cycle.

As the primary point of contact for the shift, you will play a key role in ensuring operational targets, quality standards, and safety expectations are consistently achieved. Working closely with the Production Manager, you will support efficient operations, team development, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing environment.

Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

Operations & Production Management

  • Performing the full scope of Manufacturing Team Member duties while actively supporting production activities
  • Managing people and resources to ensure delivery targets, quality standards, and safety expectations are achieved
  • Ensuring adherence to defined Work Instructions, 5S practices, and Lean manufacturing methodologies
  • Leading daily Flash 5 briefings to align the team on priorities and responsibilities
  • Monitoring operational performance and ensuring production KPIs and throughput targets are met
  • Acting as the escalation point for technical, machinery, or operational concerns
  • Raising and tracking support tickets with relevant departments to minimise operational downtime
  • Ensuring all production records, work order closures, and non-conformance logs are completed accurately and on time

People Leadership & Development

  • Providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to manufacturing team members
  • Promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and inclusion through positive leadership behaviours
  • Monitoring individual and team performance and providing regular feedback
  • Supporting attendance management and assisting with informal HR investigations where required
  • Identifying training needs and coordinating operator training for products and manufacturing processes

Communication & Cross-Functional Support

  • Liaising with supporting departments to maintain operational efficiency
  • Providing regular feedback to management regarding operational performance and improvement opportunities
  • Acting as a technical subject matter expert for the team and supporting effective use of HERMES, LMS, and PPS systems
  • Supporting problem-solving activities and escalation management across the shift

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience within a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Previous experience in a team leadership, supervisory, or senior operator role
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and root cause analysis methodologies
  • Ability to coordinate manufacturing activities and achieve operational KPIs
  • Experience managing production records, quality documentation, and operational reporting
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good working knowledge of HERMES, LMS, and PPS systems or similar manufacturing systems
  • Strong communication, coaching, and people management skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Right to Work in the UK
