Operations Team Manager

Shifts: 2 days, 2 nights (12-hour shifts) – 4 days off on 100% onsite

About the Role

Our Swindon site isolates in Zydis® fast-dissolve technology—delivering patient convenience and adherence at scale. Join a team dedicated to making a difference by transforming medicines for millions globally.

We seek a people-focused leader with fast-paced manufacturing experience to step into our Operations Team Manager role. Here, you’ll lead one operations shift, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in a highly regulated environment. Key to this role: championing a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and team growth through strong coaching, mentoring, and performance leadership.


Key Responsibilities

Operations Leadership

  • Lead the operations team to deliver safe, compliant, high-quality production on schedule and to spec.
  • Ensure critical processes are fully staffed and running efficiently, minimising downtime.
  • Align operations goals with site KPIs and wider business objectives.

Health & Safety

  • Champion and enforce site Health & Safety standards.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and maintain up-to-date risk assessments.
  • Act as a Safety champion, fostering a proactive safety culture (“Patient First” principle).

Quality & Compliance

  • Drive cGMP compliance, maintaining an ““Always Audit Ready” mindset.
  • Ensure batch records and process deviations are recorded accurately and on time.
  • Work closely with Quality teams on audits, corrective actions, and compliance....

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead deviation investigations (RCA, 5-Y exercise), driving preventative actions.
  • Identify and reduce waste, improving production cycles and equipment reliability.
  • Advocate for lean manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives.

People Leadership

  • Coach, develop, and motivate a team of up to 15 employees.
  • Manage (photo off) performance, attendance, and cross-departmental communication.
  • Foster a positive, engaging workplace culture that drives performance and retention.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in leading operational teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong GMP (or equivalent quality system) experience—preferably in pharmaceuticals.
  • Exceptional problem-solving mindset; able to conduct structured Root-Cause Analyses (RCA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, *Outlook (knowledge of JD Edwards/Trackwise desirable).
  • Passionate about developing teams and performance excellence.
  • Desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment—emergencies are routine, so calm under pressure is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in a highly regulated industry.
