DEPARTMENT: Content Delivery Operations

LOCATION: Salford

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £28,900 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

This role requires shift working including overnight shifts

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The aim of the role is to work as part of a team on a regular shift pattern, including weekend and overnight shifts, to ensure the smooth running of operational workflows required by our live services, including TV and iPlayer and to ensure that the capability to deliver those services is maintained. An Operations Technician (OT) in the Content Delivery Operation will undertake defined processes within a range of workflows as well as working to resolve any issues encountered or escalating through defined routes.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

Content Delivery Operations (CDO) is a vibrant 24/7 team responsible for the entire file-based delivery workflow for BBC Linear TV channels, BBC iPlayer and BBC Red Button services throughout the UK. The CDO team is the integral link between production of a programme and bringing it to our audiences.

Content Delivery Operations receive, validate and then distribute BBC programmes for Playout, Access Services, Archives and other key stakeholders across the BBC. The file validation process ensures that all media sent from post-production facilities meets the strict Digital Production Partnership (DPP) & BBC Technical Specifications. All file delivered programmes must be accounted for by CDO to ensure their readiness for transmission and online devices. CDO is responsible for publishing all content on BBC iPlayer.

The team captures live programmes off-air and guarantees all pre-delivered assets pass quality control checks. The BBC is required by OFCOM to provide audio description and subtitles to the hearing and visually impaired; therefore, CDO makes sure all playback options are available on platform. It is also CDO’s responsibility to revoke the availability of unsuitable programmes from BBC iPlayer and blank content without streaming rights. As well as video, CDO also manages audio and works alongside BBC Radio & Music to publish and replace files for BBC Sounds. CDO publishes calls to action on the Connected Red Button service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
