Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company in the UK to recruit an Operations Technician to join its CCGT site in Rochester, Kent.
The Operations Technician role comes with a starting salary of up to £49,000 basic salary, £12,000 Shift Allowance and £2,100 SE allowance and very competitive benefit package including 20% bonus, medical insurance and 10% pension contributions.

Responsibilities and duties of the Operations Technician role
Reporting To The Production Team Leader You Will
- Operate and monitor the CCGT plant to ensure safe, efficient and reliable generation performance.
- Support the Production Team Leader with all production and operational activities across the site.
- Analyse plant performance data and diagnose operational issues to maximise plant availability.
- Start, stop and operate plant systems using both control room and field-based equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and operational procedures.
- Apply and develop competency under the site’s safety rules, progressing towards Senior Authorised Person and Safety Coordinator responsibilities.
- Carry out routine plant inspections, testing activities and operational checks.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to support operational requirements and grid obligations.
- Supervise contractors and support maintenance activities within areas of competence.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, operational projects and plant performance optimisation.

Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- HNC (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline, or commitment to completing the qualification as part of ongoing development.
- A minimum of two years’ experience operating and/or maintaining a CCGT plant or similar heavy process environment.
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation, with experience working within permit-to-work and safety rule systems.
- Ability to analyse plant performance, diagnose technical issues and support maintenance planning activities across multiple engineering disciplines. Navy leavers with relevant watchkeeping experience on steam-raising plant are encouraged to apply.
