LOCATION: London
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £26,200 - £32,270 plus London Weighting depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As an Operations Technician within the Technology Operations Mechanical Workshop, you will be part of a highly regarded team that collaborates and provides solutions to studio and broadcast projects. You will work as part of a larger department that supports creative programming across News and Radio and have opportunities to develop your skills and confidence.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
The Technology Operations Mechanical Workshop provides a range of services that support engineering and production workflow. These range from bespoke design and machine-shop fabrication services to 3D printing bespoke solutions; the work covers all aspects of manufacturing materials to provide solutions for projects or unusual problems. The team also support robotic camera system configuration and work with third party suppliers to design and implement safety rigs within our studios, to enable safe working and effective workflows.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Data and media cable termination and installation
- Use of hand tools including soldering and fibre optic splicing
- Running cables across building infrastructure including ceilings/floors etc
- Repairing cables including headphones etc
- IT skills across MS office and good written communication skills
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE – KEY CRITERIA
Essential Criteria
- Experience, knowledge, and an understanding of problem solving with data/media cabling
- Experience of hand and power tools and an understanding of how mechanical things work
- Experience of working under pressure and delivering to tight deadlines
- Self-assured communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of Health and Safety principles within a workshop or similar environment
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge and use of IT, including MS Office
- A proven interest in how things work and basic fault diagnosis
- Professional conduct and motivation to develop skills
- Ability to collaborate with people at all levels
- Ability to work on your own initiative
