We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations & Workshop Manager
To provide day-to-day operational leadership and management of the workshop.
The role
As Operations & Workshop Manager, you will act as deputy to the Centre Manager, providing continuity of leadership, operational oversight, and escalation cover across workshop and operational functions, with a particular focus on workshop performance, patient flow, and the control and efficiency of service delivery.
Key duties:
- Overseeing production control (workload planning, WIP and output), with day-to-day delivery delegated to the Workshop Lead.
- Ensuring effective inventory management (purchasing, stock control, audits, receipts, dispatches and security), supported by the Workshop Lead and operation team.
- Ensuring compliance with ISO, QA and Health & Safety standards, working with Operation Lead and supported by Workshop Lead.
- Ensuring machinery maintenance and staff training/competency in safe use, coordinated through the Workshop Lead.
- Optimising productivity, with implementation led by the Workshop Lead.
- Ensuring NHS Trust contract compliance, supported by workshop supervision and monitoring structures.
- Supporting the Centre Manager in delivering operational performance across activity, productivity, access and patient flow.
- Maintaining oversight of referral flow, clinic throughput, workshop output and discharge activity, supported by delegated leads.
- Using operational data to identify risk, delay and variation, with actions delivered through workshop and operational leads.
- Coordinating clinical, administrative and workshop activity to reduce delays and bottlenecks.
- Supporting the Centre Manager in leading, managing and developing the Sheffield workforce.

Act as the Centre Manager’s delegate to ensure leadership continuity and visible management presence.
Support the Centre Manager in meeting contractual requirements, KPIs and reporting obligations.

What are we looking for?
As Operations & Workshop Manager, you will have the following.
Key skills
- Proven experience leading operational teams in a regulated environment
- Strong understanding of performance, finance and workforce management
- Ability to interpret data and lead improvement
- Able to prioritise own workload and flow and that of others.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively with all levels of colleagues, customers, and clients.
- Able to demonstrate sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Advanced and appropriate IT skills.
