Operative - 152607

Business Unit: NH South West

Location: Taunton


Summary

To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works. To respond to emergencies and call-outs during or outside working hours as per scheduled rotas, and assist in winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes fully qualified apprentices after completing training.

  • Banksman
  • Manual Handling
  • Abrasive Wheels Certification
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Safe Dig
  • Current driving license
  • CSCS card (if client requirement)
  • Minimum agreed level of everyday behaviour as stated in the company behaviours matrix

Specialist Skills

  • Ability to apply a wide range of generalist skills across trades
  • Understanding of risk assessments and implementation of safe systems of work
  • Ability to comprehend and execute work informed by specifications
  • 12+ months minimum industry experience
  • Interest/Potential in obtaining an LGV license
  • Training completed in:
    • General health & safety awareness
    • Risk assessment awareness
    • Traffic management knowledge
    • Use of PDA devices
  • Familiarity with small plant and equipment
  • Mini excavator operation

Contract & Working Hours

  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Hours: Full-time (39 hrs/week) – Monday to Friday
