Business Unit: 5079 - NH East Location: Bishops Stortford
Summary
To carry out a wide range of routine or cyclical works and operations:
- Deputise for Chargehand as and when required
- Run a 2-person crew on specific jobs while ensuring work meets specified standards
- Manage safety for the team and complete necessary reporting (paper or electronic)
- Respond to emergencies to ensure timely call_outs are handled during or outside regular hours
- Participate in winter maintenance as required
Desirable Skills
- Experience as a Banksman
- Manual Handling
- Safe use of Abrasive Wheels
- Emergency First Aid
- Completion of Safe Dig
- Current driving license (preferred)
- CSCS card (if client requirement)
- Adherence to company behaviours matrix with minimum everyday conduct
- Awarded NRSWA (National Register of environmental Permit holders and SurVelocity workers)
- Current Route Traffic Management 12D (TM 12D) knowledge
- HGV license

Specialist Skills (Required for Basic Level or Respective Field)
All the following must be completed for Basic Skill level OR specialist experience in one:
Core Specialist Skills
- Conduct basic safety, quality and environmental audits and risk assessments
- Understand and carry out work as per specifications
- Take responsibility for traffic management
- Hold 18+ months of relevant experience
- NVQ Level 2 qualification
- LGV (Large Goods Vehicle) licence
- NRSWA (as required)
- Use of power tools and equipment
- Use of a PDA (as required)
- Ability to give clear basic instructions
OR: Specialist Skills in the Following Fields:
- Specialist driving
- Gully emptying
- LGV winter training
- VRS (Vehicle Recovery Sympt) – flexible licensing or emergen)
- TM 12 (a, b, c, or d)
- Dealing with the public
- NVQ2 Winter (Code: 6159)
General Competencies
- Fully participate in teamwork
- Work varying hours to meet business needs
- Agreeable to adapting skills across different tasks (with changing team dynamics) while offering support
- Willing to complete training and obtain qualifications
- Ability to fill out and manage record sheets (electronic or paper)
- Conduct defect inspections of plant, equipment, and vehicles
- Understand and ensure own and team safety
- Availability for emergency/winter call-outs
- Manage teamwork operations of specific jobs
