We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as an Optical Assistant Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in the optical industry and looking to gain valuable experience and skills. As our new apprentice, you will be working alongside our experienced team members to provide excellent customer service to our clients. You will be responsible for tasks such as booking appointments, dispensing glasses, maintaining accurate records, and providing advice to customers on the best products for their needs, all while working towards a recognised qualification.

About The Role
We are looking for an Optical Assistant Apprentice to join us in delivering outstanding patient care. You'll learn everything involved with providing expert advice, sharing knowledge on frames and fittings, and delivering ongoing care that makes patients feel confident, comfortable, and cared for.

This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, our ideal candidate takes pride in offering honest advice, building trust and positive relationships, and is interested in being part of a team that delivers a quality service while supporting one another. You'll be given the time, tools, and encouragement to do your job to a high standard, without feeling rushed or pressured. Collaboration is a big part of how we work, so you'll play a key role in making sure every patient has a smooth, positive experience from start to finish.
As an Optical Assistant Apprentice, you'll work with your dedicated Mentor and training provider to learn about the industry, how to support clinicians with the patient journey, and be involved with everything from frame styling and lens choices to fittings, adjustments, and aftercare. You'll be trained to offer product knowledge that's tailored to each person's visual and lifestyle needs, and help manage more complex prescriptions with the support of the wider team.
You will be carrying out some day to day duties as well as developing certain skills and expanding your role over a period of time. You will be expected to greet customers, develop an understanding of clinically issued prescriptions, offer advice on products that is personalised for your patients, as well as carrying out admin duties and more.

The role of an Optical Assistant changes day to day and will develop during the course of your apprenticeship, making it an exciting and interesting position to be involved in!
Additional Information:
- We are a small friendly team, excited to support you in your training
- This role requires you to work Saturdays
- Our appointment times are 40 minutes
Training for the
Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship qualification includes;
- Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and Literacy can be obtained on the course (if required).
- Enhancement/challenge - how to develop ourselves.

- Prevent - safeguarding individuals from being drawn into terrorism.
