The Role

As our Optical Assistant, you'll be at the heart of what we do - the friendly, knowledgeable face our patients see from the moment they walk in. This is a hands-on, people-first role, working closely with the team to ensure every patient leaves feeling looked after, informed, and happy with their experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming patients in person and on the phone, delivering a warm, professional experience from start to finish. Whether a patient is calling to book an appointment, ask a question or collecting their frames, you’ll be there to schedule them, help them and support the team with the day to day operations
  • Assisting patients with frame selection, dispensing, styling and fitting, and general optical queries
  • Supporting the smooth running of the dispensing process, including taking measurements and processing orders
  • Managing patient bookings and keeping the appointment schedule running efficiently
  • Maintaining accurate records and adhering to practice standards and procedures
  • Supporting stock management, displays, and merchandising to keep the practice looking its best
  • Working alongside the store manager and wider team to contribute to a positive, high-performing environment

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
