Retail Assistant – Boots Opticians
About the Role
As a Retail Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of our Boots Opticians store team, the first and last person our customers interact with. Your responsibilities include building strong customer relationships through active listening and understanding their needs—as you guide them from their arrival in store, through pre-screening activities for eye-tests, right through to helping them find the perfect eyewear solution.
Working on the shopfloor is never the same twice, ensuring variety in an engaging role. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to develop your skills through our ‘Step Into Optics’ training programme, combining workshop-based learning with practical on-the-job experience.
Responsibilities
You’ll be involved in:
- Ordering, dispensing, and collecting glasses and contact lenses
- Supporting with eye-tests and pre-screening activities
- Providing aftercare support through repairs and adjustments
- Completing operational and administrative tasks associated with dispensing prescriptions
- Maintaining high standards on the shop floor

You’ll be based in-store and report directly to the Store Manager.
Requirements
Must Have:
- Passion for customer service
- Eagerness to learn

- Previous experience in retail or clinical environments
