Optical Consultant - Foundation

Retail Assistant – Boots Opticians

About the Role

As a Retail Assistant, you will be a fundamental part of our Boots Opticians store team, being the first and last person that our customers interact with. Working on the shop floor, you will build great relationships with customers by listening and understanding their needs to find the right product or service for them.

From greeting customers upon arrival, supporting pre-screening activities for eye tests, to helping customers find their perfect eyewear solution—no two days will be the same.

Your role will give you opportunities to develop your expertise through our ‘Step Into Optics’ training programme, which combines workshop-based learning with practical on-the-job experience.


Key Duties

You will be involved in:

  • Ordering, dispensing, and collecting glasses and contact lenses
  • Supporting with eye tests and pre-screening activities
  • Providing aftercare support through repairs and adjustments
  • Completing operational and administrative tasks related to dispensing prescriptions
  • Maintaining shop floor standards and presentation

Requirements

Essential

  • Passion for customer care
  • Eager desire to learn and grow in the role

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a retail or clinical environment
