Optical Dispenser – Full-Time Role

Responsibilities

Core Duties:

  • Advise patients on frame styles, lens options, and coatings, aligning selections with their prescriptions and personal preferences.
  • Take accurate measurements for eyewear and ensure speckles and sunglasses meet clinical and aesthetic requirements.
  • Fit, adjust, and test spectacles and sunglasses for comfort and optimal visual performance.
  • Manage orders, repairs, and collections efficiently, maintaining excellent client service. -Support the optometry team by:
    • Interpreting prescriptions and explaining recommended products.
    • Guiding patients through aftercare, lens care instructions, and treatment options.
  • Assist at ** reception and retail areas**, providing attentive customer service.
  • Maintain product displays and contribute to a smooth, efficient clinic environment.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with optometrists, assistants, and team members to ensure high standards of care.
  • Uphold clinical, professional, and hygiene standards in a fast-paced practice.
  • Handle patient consultations with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential:

  • Strong foundational knowledge in optics and optometry principles, including prescription interpretation.
  • Proven customer service experience, with a focus on attention, clarification, and solutions.
  • Practical experience (or formal training) in eye exams, eyecare, or related services, including explaining clinical recommendations clearly.
  • Precision and reliability for measurements, dispensing, and administrative/record-keeping tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional, inclusive, and patient-centred approach.
  • Previous experience in optical dispensing, retail healthcare, or related professional services (advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Qualifications or certifications in optical dispensing or willingness to complete relevant training.
