We are looking for a dedicated Optical Laboratory Technician to join our Bury team and play a key role in ensuring every pair of glasses meets the highest standards of quality before reaching our customers.
The Role
As an Optical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for preparing prescription eyewear using industry-leading glazing equipment and ensuring all orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with the retail and customer support teams to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Process online and in-store prescription orders accurately and efficiently.
- Cut, edge, glaze, fit, and assemble prescription lenses into frames using modern glazing equipment.
- Perform quality checks to ensure every pair of glasses meets Specscart's quality standards.
- Read and interpret optical prescriptions accurately.
- Carry out frame adjustments, repairs, and lens replacements when required.
- Maintain excellent attention to detail throughout the production process.
- Ensure daily production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
- Support stock management of lenses, frames, and laboratory consumables.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with retail, optometry, and customer support teams to resolve production-related queries.
- Continuously contribute towards improving laboratory efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Requirements
- Previous experience working in an optical laboratory is preferred.
- Good understanding of ophthalmic lenses, glazing techniques, and optical manufacturing processes.
- Experience using automated edging and glazing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent manual dexterity.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive attitude with a strong focus on teamwork and continuous improvement.
