Job Outline
You will be responsible for producing precision lens components and assemblies to rigorous dimensional and quality standards, often under the guidance of a Senior Technician. Your work will support a wide range of machines and processes, ensuring radio frequency, finishes, imaging quality and environmental durability.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Dimensional Inspection
- Verify that components meet specified tolerances for accurate assembly and further processing.
- Ensure components are fit-for-purpose for subsequent operations or delivery.

Tooling & Equipment Preparation
- Select and inspect all required tooling to guarantee consistent, high-precision manufacturing.
- Maintain pre-processing standards to minimise human error and component waste.
- Source and implement the most effective methods for high-quality results.

Standards Compliance
- Adhere to departmental and company procedures to achieve optimal product quality at every stage.

Machinery Setup & Operation
- Configure and calibrate machinery to maximise production efficiency.
- Monitor components during processing and initiate alterations as required.

Quality Recovery & Re-work
- Repair and refurbish damaged components where possible to reduce material costs and waste.

Training & Workplace Collaboration
- Instruct and assist colleagues on the correct use of machinery and processes.
- Engage in process improvement initiatives to support business objectives.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Strong mathematics and science background (qualifications at GCSE level or equivalent).
- Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Engineering-based experience, preferably in high-precision manufacturing (though not mandatory).
- Proven reliability and attention to detail-oriented tasks.
Desirable Attributes
- Physics or Mathematics qualification at A-Level (or equivalent) or above.
- Industry experience in precision optical or mechanical manufacturing.
- AS9100 awareness (Airworthiness Requirements) or relevant defence/aviation standards knowledge.
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles in precision engineering.
