What You’ll Work On
We are looking for an experienced options trader with a proven track record at a top-tier trading firm. At Wintermute, you will:
- Build and scale our options trading business.
- Operate with no legacy systems, no corporate bureaucracy, and no excessive approvals.
- Act like an owner, with incentives aligned with those of the company.

Market Analysis & Strategy
- Monitor and rationalise crypto market flows (spot, perpetuals, futures, and options) to identify volatility and skew dislocations.
- Analyse exchange-level positioning, funding dynamics, open interest, and on/off-exchange flows to uncover structural and tactical opportunities.
Quantitative Research & Alpha Generation
- Research and backtest volatility surface dynamics, term structure, and skew behaviour across major digital assets (e.g., BTC, ETH, and liquid altcoins).
- Develop and refine alpha signals combining market microstructure insights with quantitative research tools.
- Contribute to building systematic and semi-systematic volatility strategies.
Trading & Risk Management
- Actively trade and risk-manage a multi-exchange options portfolio (delta, vega, gamma, and cross-venue risk).
Full Investment Lifecycle
- Own the full investment lifecycle: from thesis development, modelling, execution, to post-trade performance analysis.
Engineering & Infrastructure Collaboration
- Work with engineering and infrastructure teams to optimize:
- Electronic execution
- Latency-sensitive routing
- Automation across exchanges
Risk & Market Oversight
- Track exchange counterparty risk, liquidity fragmentation, and structural inefficiencies unique to crypto derivatives markets.

Key Skills & Requirements
Hard Skills (Must-Have)
- 3-5+ years of experience in crypto options market making at a top-tier firm (prefer proprietary trading with significant systematic/algorithmic components—not focused on client trades).
- Deep understanding of option pricing and risk frameworks; ability to design these models independently based on prior knowledge.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills (we will test this).
- Preferred: Python/coding skills or a proven ability to learn Python quickly (within 3–6 months via self-driven effort).
