Your role will involve:
- Conducting eye examinations (including contact lens and extended service assessments)
- Collaborating with the Dispensing Optician Manager to enhance training, coaching, and maintain departmental standards
As part of our NHS extended service contracts, we provide a wide range of eye care—including treatment and condition monitoring. We’ll support your career growth by funding and facilitating additional accreditations where needed to help you deliver these vital services.
Training and development are core values at Asda. Our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme is designed to support your professional growth, and we even provide protected time for certifications. We want to help you fulfil your potential while ensuring our customers receive the most advanced optical care.
Beyond training, we also offer mentorship opportunities for GOC registered professionals, such as supervising optometry students. This provides a rewarding way to support the next generation of optical professionals, while also deepening your own expertise.

We are looking for a dedicated Optometrist to join our dynamic team, committed to excellence in healthcare and fostering excellent customer service.
In this role, your clinical skills and passion will directly enhance customer experiences, ensuring they leave with confidence and a memorable interaction.
Key Responsibilities
As an Optometrist at Asda Opticians, you will: ✔ Be a fully qualified optometrist registered with the GOC ✔ Be a registered performer with your local NHS team or health board ✔ Possess MECs or WECs accreditation (or be willing to gain this within 12 months—fully funded and supported by Asda) ✔ Be on track to meet the statutory points requirement for CPD ✔ Demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering extraordinary customer service ✔ Have a passion for growing new patient services and shaping team culture
Essential Requirements
Before applying, ensure you meet the following:
- Currently registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
- Hold evidence of ‘Right To Work’ in the UK
- Provide clinical references (2 required)
- If based in Wales, have WECS accreditation and WGOS module accreditation
