Optometrist – Fixed Term (6-12 Months) | Part-Time (27.5 hrs/week)
We’re seeking an experienced Optometrist to join our forward-thinking clinical team at Preston Brook Hospital, Manchester—a prestigious private eye care centre. About the Role
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre- and post-operative cataract surgery consultations, assessing patient suitability for interventions
- Provide acute and follow-up clinical care—including managing patient records via electronic medical record systems
- Deliver health education, advice, and support, ensuring patients receive appropriate guidance
- Offer first-line clinical advice and coordinate referrals to specialists where necessary
- Ensure compliance with CQC policies, participate in mandatory training, and adhere to clinical safety protocols for all equipment
You will join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team of professionals in a fast-paced private hospital setting, providing high-quality, patient-centred care.

A fully qualified and GOC-registered Optometrist with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in either private practice, high street optometry, or hospital-settings, including:
- Refractive or surgical environments—preferably cataract work, digital techniques (e.g., OCT, anterior segment imaging), and sub-specialities
- Reliable use of electronic health records (patient databases, clinical documentation)
- Experience with performance metrics & conversion targets—consistent with our vision-consultation focus
- Strong communication skills—with patients, team members, and referring medical professionals
