Role and Facility Information

The Orthopaedic Department at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC is seeking a full-time orthopaedic surgeon to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to come live, work and play in the Kootenay Rockies! The five surgeons currently on staff provide general orthopaedics, hip/knee arthroplasty, upper extremity and sports surgery coverage. The team is specifically looking for candidates with an interest in general community orthopaedics.

Fellowship training in arthroplasty, trauma, and/or lower extremity/foot and ankle is considered an asset but our priority is finding a good fit with our group.

Call is equally distributed and averages 1:5. Elective OR time averages one day per week. There is a hospital-based cast clinic with two certified cast technicians. Assigned cast clinic time is about one day a week. There may be capacity to share an office or you may set up your own office.

As part of the selection process, it is expected that shortlisted candidates will work as a locum for a determined period of time in order to allow the candidate to become familiar with the team, the work site, and the community before the final decision is made.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
